Surmounting pressure, cut-throat competition, highstress, study strain & debacle in career & personal affairs are the most adjudged reasons for teenage trauma. To surpass these, many youngsters take the easy route of drugs, alcohols & night clubs forgetting the fact that these short-cuts are self- abusing only. Some, who can not at all fit into the slot, take another route of suicide notwithstanding that- ending the life is not a solution but beginning of the problem.
Suicide physically ends the life & perhaps the end of physical trauma but indirectly it puts the parents, friends, relatives & the society as a whole in to the comma. It’s after effect is quite dangerous & is an unhealthy sign of crippled state & society norms. The present worry is around sixteen thousand teenagers ( School & College students) committed suicide in India in last three years & the figure may be quite high in future too as it is envisaged by the analysts.
If we compare from 2004 onwards till 2008, the suicide rate of teenagers especially school & college goers is constantly increasing. In recent years it has increased by many folds, which is a point of grave concern & the gravity of the situation must be understood by one & all. A strategic plan is the urgent need of the hour, to tackle the problems of teenagers to control anxiety, depression, stress & strain which are the prime cause of tendencial suicides.
The probable solution may start from educational institutions which need to impart life skills besides routine teaching to soothen the problems of teenagers. Apart from that the strategy of the administration must be holistic also. As teenagers are the most vulnerable group, they must be mentored, counseled & guided properly to stand erect at the time of perils. Above all the parents, teachers, the society as a whole must take the responsibility of grooming the children to face the world boldly & beautifully.
