The new SWM Big Tiger EDi hybrid crossover has been unveiled in China with a huge range and a price of less than $15,000. According to Carnewschina, this is the cheapest hybrid implemented under the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) scheme. It has an internal combustion engine used only as a generator.
Ground clearance Big Tiger EDi is 195 mm, while the car is front-wheel drive. Its dimensions are 4605 x 1815 x 1825 mm with a wheelbase of 2780 mm.
Inside, a 10.25-inch multimedia system screen is installed, as well as a digital instrument panel and physical control buttons. The Big Tiger EDi powertrain was jointly developed by SWM and FinDreams, a division of BYD. The Big Tiger EDi is powered by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder petrol engine. Because it’s an EREV, its ICE only powers the battery and doesn’t distribute power to the wheels. The car also received a 143 hp electric motor. with 210 Nm of torque. As for the battery, the range of the car on electricity reaches 51 km. The combined range of the Big Tiger EDi exceeds 1000 km.
