Some people embrace controversy in their lifetime, some watch from heaven. So is the case of the great writer Shakespeare. Shakespeare, who, people believe had shaken the sphere by his powerful writing, is now in controversy after so many years of his passing away. Controversy is not new for rich & famous, but the controversy assigned to Shakespeare is very much peculiar in nature that too after prolonged years of his death.
According to an expert, Shakespeare was actually a Jewish woman, who had disguised to get her work published in Elizabethan London, where original literature from women was not acceptable. The woman Amelia Bassano Lanier, who was of Italian descent and lived in England as ‘Marranno’, has been known only as the first woman to publish a book of poetry-’Salve Deus Rex Judaeorum’ in 1611. The theory rest largely on the circumstances of Bassano’s life, which John Hudson, an expert on Shakespeare, contends match much better to the content of Shakespeare’s work.
The researchers has also identified technical similarities between the language used in Shakespeare’s verse. The Cognitive scientist has located several clues in the text like recently noted Jewish allegories and the statistically significant appearance of Amelia Bassano Lanier Bassano’s various names in the plays, which he says point to her as the only convincing candidate as the author of Shakespeare’s work.
John Hudson’s proof for Shakespeare being a woman has some say, but apart from this no major proof backs the theory. On top of this no other experts or theory till yet highlighted this aspect though they have done extensive research on Shakespeare’s life & work. Of course there was extreme difficulty for a woman to become author at that point of time when Shakespeare was writing in London, but that does not mean the whole theory shall rest on this. Perhaps more research is required to proof Shakespeare’s gender. But the most genuine point is why people hanker after the facts which do not hold any relevance, why not people do research on more meaningful aspects of one’s work rather than his or her personal life or lifestyle.
