Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Fronx rock, more than 11 thousand bookings received in a week

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki introduced the 5-door Jimny and the all-new sub-compact SUV Fronx at the Auto Expo 2023. The company has not yet given information about the price and availability of both these cars, but its pre-booking was started on January 12. Pre-bookings have been open for a full week now and Maruti Suzuki has reportedly received over 11,000 bookings for both these cars.

Maruti Suzuki to automotive publication Express Drives told The company has received 9,000 and 2,500 confirmed bookings for the 5-door version of the Jimny and the Fronx respectively in a week. The company started taking online bookings for both these cars on January 12 on its official Nexa website and offline bookings at Nexa dealerships across the country. Customers willing to book have to pay a token amount of Rs 11,000.

5-Door Jimny, is an extended version of the 3-door Jimny. It gets a 3-spoke steering wheel and a conventional twin-pod analogue instrument cluster. The center console houses a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is capable of generating maximum power of 103bhp and peak torque of 134.2Nm. This engine can be bought in 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. It also gets an on-wheel drive system.

Maruti Suzuki The Jimny will be offered in two variants – Zeta and Alfa. It gets features like automatic LED headlamps, electric ORVM, automatic climate control and cruise control. The SUV also gets safety features like 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control and brake-limited slip differential.

There itself, Maruti Suzuki The Fronx gets a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable of generating 98.6 bhp power and 147.6 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to 5-speed MT and 6-speed automatic transmission. It will also get a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will generate 88.5 Bhp and 113 Nm and will come mated to a 5-speed MT/AMT.
