Tackling the law and order situation is the responsibility of local police. But the presence of gun totting paramilitary forces in the public streets of the state capital tells that our state police and administration have not been able to bring things under their control leading government to seek help from central forces.
It also shows how our society is facing serious law and order problems which increased manifold unexpectedly during last few years. Flashback to year 2006, when Itanagar and its adjoining area hardly used to witness paramilitary forces manning its street except during serious breakdown of law and order.
While public may feel safe with patrolling by man in uniform at the night hours but in reality it is not a healthy sign.
The civil societies of state who truly care for the future of Arunachal Pradesh need to wake up to this harsh reality that all is not well within our society. There is an urgent need to go for deep introspection to find out where things are going wrong.
However, we must say, despite limited resources state police have done commendable jobs in curbing crime rate over the years. With ever-increasing migration of people to twin town of Itanagar and Naharlagun, local authorities at times also doing their best to get hold of law and order situation.
