‘Each tent, each blanket are of vital importance’: Turkey thanks India again for quake relief aid

New Delhi: With Turkey battling to recover from aftermath of devastating earthquake, India has extended its helping hand to the quake-hit country by sending relief aid there. Turkey’s Ambassador to India Firat Sunel on Monday thanked India for sending relief materials to his country.
The death toll from the last week’s powerful earthquake in Turkey and neighbouring Syria has climbed to over 33,000.
In a tweet, Sunel said, “Another batch of emergency in-kind donations from the people of India is on the way to Turkiye. @TurkishAirlines @TK_INDIA carries the aids on a daily basis to the earthquake hit region, free of charge. #VasudhaivaKutumbakam

“THANK YOU INDIA! Each tent, each blanket or sleeping bag are of vital importance for the hundreds of thousands of earthquake survivors.”

India on Sunday sent additional relief material, medical equipment and life-saving medicines to Turkey and Syria onboard its seventh ‘Operation Dost’ military transport aircraft.
“7th #OperationDost flight reached Syria with over 23 tons of relief material, including gensets, solar lamps, emergency & critical care medicines, & disaster relief consumables. Received at Damascus airport by Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment Moutaz Douaji,” tweeted Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.
In the last few days, India sent to Turkey medicines, a mobile hospital and specialised search and rescue teams. It also sent relief material to Turkey.
India decided to immediately dispatch search and rescue teams of the NDRF, medical teams and relief material to Turkey following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions to offer all possible assistance to the country.
