New Delhi: Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, stated on Monday that in order to effectively resist rising threats, the armed forces must focus on developing futuristic capabilities while simultaneously maintaining a high operational readiness along the coastline and along the borders with China and Pakistan.
Speaking to senior navy officers from the Goa coast aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, Singh stated “Future conflicts will be unpredictable. The constantly-evolving world order has forced everyone to re-strategize.”
“Constant vigil on the northern and western borders, as well as the entire coastline, must be maintained. We need to be ready to deal with all future challenges,” the defence minister added.
The Navy’s mission-based deployments have improved India’s standing as the “preferred security partner” of friendly foreign nations in the Indian Ocean Region by standing firm and responsively protecting national interests in the maritime domain.
According to the minister, securing borders is essential to ensuring social and economic advancement. He also added that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is advancing in “Amrit Kaal” with “renewed push and fervour” to accomplish this goal.
Singh emphasised the link between economic growth and security, saying the defence industry has become “a key demand creator” that is fostering the economy and safeguarding the nation’s advancement.
China and India have engaged in a couple of border skirmishes, particularly in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh over the past 3-4 years.
The tactics of proxy war being waged by Pakistan against India, particularly in border states like Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala have also evolved and as per intelligence reports the tactics to counter them need to evolve as well.
