Exposing the faulty work culture, a culvert connecting Seren circle and Nari collapsed at Pam village under Lower Siang district. The culvert was reportedly constructed only seven months ago. The local student bodies have alleged that it collapsed due to poor quality work. So far there is no reaction from district administration or concern department. The incident raises serious question mark over the quality of work being executed by the works department. Several such complaints of poor quality work continue to poor in from various parts of the state.
In most cases the finger is pointed towards the works department. Misuse of development fund by compromising with work quality needs to be check in the greater interest of the state. These greedy groups of people are harming the future of state. Civil society bodies will have to play an active role and act as a watchdog. Also the people of Arunachal need to introspect and ask themselves some tough questions. For the benefit of a section of society the whole state have to suffer. This attitude needs to change and the change should happen at the earliest. Unless there is a united people’s movement against corruption the fruit of development will not reach to actual beneficiaries. Especially when it is matter of infrastructure projects like road, bridge, etc there should not be any compromise with work quality.
