This much GST will be charged on SUVs

The officials had sought clarification from the CBIC regarding the rate of tax on certain types of vehicles which attract a GST cess of 22 per cent. On this, CBIC has clarified that GST cess at the rate of 22 percent will be applicable only on those motor vehicles which fulfill 4 special conditions.

According to CBIC, these vehicles are commonly known as SUVs. Their engine is 1500cc or more. Their length is more than 4000mm. At the same time, their ground clearance is 170mm or more.

GST on fruit drink or fruit juice

Along with this, CBIC has also cleared the confusion regarding GST levied on carbonated beverages containing fruit drinks or carbonated beverages containing fruit juice. CBIC says that both these types of drinks will attract GST at the rate of 28 percent and Cess at the rate of 12 percent. While the GST rate on snack packets like fries will be 18 percent.
