As you all know, the board exams are round the corner. You have invested a good amount of time, energy, and emotions in coming here and be sure…. the further journey will also be beautiful and happy.
As Class 10 is the steppingstone to a safe and secure environment which you have experienced all your school life, it is but natural to feel stressed, worried, and anxious. It is perfectly alright if you experience a plethora of emotions during these trying times.
Looking at the state which students are passing through, one can say that the only way to attain mental peace is by giving importance to alertness and knowledge, as it provides us with the clarity to think and understand reality. Stress is the feeling of being under too much emotional and mental pressure.
It can be dealt with successfully if we follow certain routines and simple exercises to train your mind and body.
Parents should remember, this is not the last chance to prove merit. Many children and parents face exam stress because of the fear of performance and of the results.
Parents should not impose their dreams and aspirations on the ward so much that he/she finds it difficult to cope with. Be a support to the child…not a source of anxiety and tension adding to his/her woes.
FOLLOW THE TIPS TO BE ON YOUR TOES, WHICH WILL HELP YOU TO HAVE PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR STRESS RATHER THAN CORRECTIVE MEASURES:
i. Check the CBSE portal regularly for new updates.
ii. Follow the guidelines and be aware of the syllabus, blueprints, marking scheme.
iii. Solve papers on a regular basis to ensure proper presentation at a given time.
iv. Ensure that your ward gets nutritious food and enough sleep.
v. Stay calm and stand around your kids.
vi. Create a study planner and create a suitable study environment.
vii. Be well prepared for known as well as unforeseen issues.
STUDENTS SHOULD ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT:
1. Problems and doubts encountered can be experienced as a chance for renewal rather than stress. Try not to get burdened with exam issues and stress, but instead be happy that the end of this journey is going to be the beginning of a new journey which will take you places, and your life will take a magical turn.
2. Doing something that is productive is a great way to alleviate emotional stress. Get your mind to do something that is productive and relaxing. When you get bored with the monotony of solving papers, getting updates, attending lectures …. take a break for a short while. Use the time productively by changing the nature of your tasks. This will help you rejuvenate and relax your mind. You can play a game of tennis or badminton etc, go for a swim, or take a stroll in the garden or just relax listening to music of your choice.
3. Be aware that stress can help you focus better and can be positive. Having small amounts of stress can stimulate you to think. Being able to manage your stress is the key. This is the best way to deal with life not only in class 10…but all throughout. Instead of being stressed about expectations, deadlines, competition etc, start accepting it as a part of life. Once you make this decision, your heart and mind will get aligned to accept the reality. This will help you more than anything else. It will also make you strong and sorted. ‘
4. If you are constantly trying to be a perfectionist, it will lead to increased stress and hinder your performance. So, try to accept your limitations in a positive way and don’t overexert yourself.
Whenever you feel tension mounting, remember life is much bigger, larger, wider and beautiful. Remember your family and friends and all the good things which gave you happiness. This will help you smile, and you will successfully break the force of tension. Eventually, you will realise that worrying is a waste of time; it changes nothing.
5. Having gratitude can reduce your stress and anxiety. Take control of your life in your hands, having realistic expectations considering your potential and capability. This will make circumstances happy, healthy and rewarding. The truth is that stress doesn’t come from your exam, your school, your peer pressure, challenges, or other circumstances. It comes from your thoughts about these circumstances.
Enjoy the pressure. Enjoy the stress. Enjoy being uncomfortable. And don’t shy away from it, embrace it.
BEST OF LUCK!
